Our clients had previously been due to marry in another country before falling subject to the global COVID-19 pandemic. Forced to re-arrange their date, they decided to invite a smaller, more intimate group of their closest friends and family out to Portugal’s luxurious Algarve to celebrate with them in a multi-day wedding that would be remembered forever.
Professional footballer Andy Robertson and long-term partner Rachel Roberts both absolutely loved fresh flowers and were keen to see as many blooms as possible at each and every turn.
Rachel’s desire was to have a timeless and elegant destination wedding in Portugal that stood the test of time so chose to work with green and white flowers as her predominant wedding scheme.
We sought inspiration from the local area that surrounded us, selected a clean palette of glorious, crisp white flowers and foliages that conjured the spirit of the Mediterranean. What we created should be considered nothing short of spectacular and certainly captured the attention of the world’s media as we brought a Roman Catholic Church to life in the centre of Faro, Portugal.
The ceremony was hosted in a grand, Roman Catholic church in the heart of Faro, Portugal. Filled with historic charm, this hugely decadent house of worship featured a gold gilded alter that was nothing short of breathtaking. We added large and theatrical floral arrangements with flower cascades that tumbled down and across the floor.
A giant arch of fresh flowers surrounded the giant doorway to the church. This stood over 5m tall and created the most dramatic welcome, capturing the hearts of many Faro locals and the world’s tabloid press as our celebrity client prepared to say “I do!”
The wedding reception and party was hosted at the iconic Alambique Restaurant in Almancil, Portugal. In the heart of Quinta do Lago, this historic setting provided us with the perfect canvas upon which to decorate using thousands upon thousands of the most beautiful flowers.
A floral tunnel measuring a staggering 12m in length greeted guests upon their arrival and transformed this traditional Portuguese Trattoria into a luxury wedding venue. Perfect for photographs, this huge floral installation featured Mediterranean inspired foliage and thousands upon thousands of roses in soft and romantic pastel shades.
A timeless, white wedding design was then realised as guests turned the corner for dinner. Giant floral arrangements stood in the centre of round dining tables, each filled with fresh white dahlias, white roses, white snapdragons and white astilbe. A plethora of clear glass accessories accented the modern and contemporary wedding design and ensured a dramatic outcome was realised.
The top table featured a floral canopy of giant proportions. Using thousands of roses, white dahlias, white snapdragons and white phlox, we created a design floral arrangement with much movement and interest.
Long dining tables then featured low hand-tied flower arrangements to ensure visual variety was captured throughout the chosen wedding venue. Stylish glassware, flatware and personalised velvet napkins were then added to each place setting to add the final finishing touch to this Portuguese wedding design.
